WOOD

At Helliver Guitars the wood is given plenty of time to season. After proper drying, every piece of wood is seasoned for years in the workshop at living room climate. Only the oldest pieces are then selected to be crafted into a guitar.

Each piece is carefully selected for its future purpose because it is not only the species of wood that has it's unique tonal properties but every individual piece. Body, top, neck and fretboard have to harmonise to create a truly outsanding guitar.

Hard to find super lightweight mahogany is the foundation of most Helliver Guitars.

HALS

All Helliver necks are made from very straight grained quater sawn mahohany or finest maple. Between the different steps of processing, each neck is left to sit for several weeks to prevent any stress and tension in the wood from occuring. This makes a great sounding neck and ensures perfect playability for a lifetime.

Real one piece necks without any glued on parts a´t the head are standard with Helliver Guitars.

FRETBOARD

The ebony fretboard adds sonic stability and clarity especially to leightweight instruments. This material has been used for making classical instruments for centuries for a reason.

The fret slots are no longer sawn but cnc machined (from S/N 08073 on) in order to leave the side of the fret board intact. This looks good and prevents the fret tang from sticking out under extremely dry conditions.

FRETS

The frets are made of the classic 18% german silver material but the heat treated to make them last longer. Their super precise profile and edges make them hold on to the fret slots perfectly.

The standard medium jumbo fret wire is 2.5 mm wide and 1.1 mm high but there is a range of sizes to choose from. A nickel free material is available, too.
